Sign Tutorial Using Silhouette Cameo

Pin It Now!

I got this wood sign at Hobby Lobby on clearance for $2.  It had "APOTHECARY" painted on it.
So I used black paint and covered the existing lettering.
While the paint dried, I got out my computer and set up my Silhouette Cameo.
The board measures 6.5 inches by 36 inches.
I designed my lettering in the Silhouette software program using "ARTISTAMP" font (it's a free font that I love and use often)
I set the silhouette to cut adhesive vinyl and got busy.

I peeled the lettering off and discarded it.  This left me with a great stencil.

I attached the stencil to transfer paper and then attached it to the wood.

I used frog tape to cover the edges, this just makes stenciling easier!

Using acrylic craft paint and a stiff stencil brush, I began filling in the stencil.

And this is what it looked like after I had it all covered in paint.
While the paint was still wet, I peeled away the tape and stencil.

And I was left with this sign.
We got married in 1994 and our last name is ESTES.  I thought the Est abbreviated for "Established" also works for "Estes".  I plan on hanging this or using this someplace in my living room.
