Chunky Monkey Brownies

This is a "Pretentious Dessert" because it appears homemade with it's oh so many ingredients (such as chunks of chocolate, almonds and toffee in the middle) when really it's as simple as a brownie mix and a couple of candy bars!   Now, I am aware that a lot of people know this recipe… it made the circuit after Paula Deen had it on her show a few years ago and it was the potluck favorite around the south for a couple of years but I recently just discovered that you can use all different kinds of candy bars in the middle and they turn out DEE-LISH!

Here's the recipe...

Ingredients:
Brownie Mix, along with ingredients from box (eggs, oil, water, etc)

2 large Candy Bars
(the classic recipe uses Symphony bars with almonds and toffee but I find Reese's Cups, Snickers, Butterfingers or White Chocolate Bars to be just as delicious!)

This is so incredibly easy…
Preheat your oven according to brownie mix instructions.
Mix up brownies according to package directions.
Spoon half of batter in greased 9 X 11 baking dish.
Break up the candy bars and layer on top of batter.
Spread remaining batter on top of candy bar pieces.
Bake according to brownie mix instructions.

Let me know if you try a different candy bar and how they turn out!  I'd love your comments :)
