This week's FEATURES:

I love the top of this dresser.
The entire piece of furniture is really cool but the top has a planked look
and it gives the piece much character.

This is gorgeous.
I want a beach house
and I want this in my beach house.  :)

I would've never dreamed that a plastic spoon tree would be so cool!
I must make one of these...
or three.
My kids will love helping with this project ;)

I love mercury glass but I hate it's price tag.
This is a great tutorial on making "mercury glass"
or your own version of it.
I can't wait to try this out!

Davis Desk

Davis Desk

This beauty was an old school teacher's desk.
It is so SOLID and HEAVY.
I was really excited when I found this one.
The wood grain was beautiful so I decided to strip down the top and stain it.
I must admit that the photos make it more turquoise looking than it actually is.
It's really more of a JADE green color.
I used ASCP "Florence" with clear wax followed by dark wax.

Before I started painting the desk, I liberally applied Citristrip and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Then I scraped it off and reapplied and let it sit for 40 minutes.
Then I scraped it off and reapplied and let it sit for an hour.
I could go on... I think I lost track after the first couple of coats!  No but seriously... I think I reapplied and scraped a couple of times after the initial attempt.  Finally, it started to look beautiful.  I used steel wool and mineral spirits to clean it up.  Newspaper works best for absorbing up the gunk and spirits.  I had to include this lovely photo of the scraped gunk, when all was said and done.  I stained it with a dark wood that was a similar match to the original stain.  Then I applied a clear wood protectant.  When the top was all completely finished, I painted the rest of the desk and used clear and dark wax along with some distressing.

And now it is FOR SALE at Amity Pottery.

This week's FEATURES:

White is definitely right for this piece!  I love the detail on this dresser.  It's so pretty.  If you need ideas or inspiration for painting furniture, there are so many more beautiful painted pieces at Leone Design.

Congratulations to Jacqueline and her new space at Crompton Collective.  She is so talented and I think her vendor space is just awesome.  She always has wonderful tutorials and projects on her blog.  I'm one of her email followers and I just made some pom flowers last week that I found on her blog, My Simple Home Life.

These Andes Mints Cake Bites look delicious!  I can't wait to try them.  Head over to Atkinson Drive for the full recipe and look at the different ideas she has for decorating these for the holidays.

Hailey Chair

Hailey Chair

I found this chair at a garage sale over the summer.
It was in excellent condition but I wanted to update the fabric and give it a little personality.
I used Annie Sloan Chalk "Provence" on this chair.
I think it turned out lovely.
I always have a reason for my furniture names...
but this chair was not reminding me of anyone or anything!
So I named her Hailey cause she looks like a Hailey to me.

Come and par-tay with me at these awesome LINK PARTIES...
