Painted Sleigh Bed

This one didn't get a name... why? Because I will not ever paint another sleigh bed ;)  It's just a huge, monotonous job.  I love, love, love the way she turned out but I seriously nearly lost an arm with all the painting and sanding on this one.

She is painted in ASCP Old White with hemp oil (MMS) on top.  I adore her and think she is so pretty all painted and distressed.

She has a lot of character with those raised panels on the headboard and footboard.  With the medallion grooved trim, she's just lovely.

I hope my guests will enjoy her - as she now resides in the guest room.

Re-do BENCH

Confession time... I did not like that bench I made from a coffee table. I wrote in my post that I thought the tufting wasn't tight enough.  I also kept looking at it and thinking "BLAH".

This is what it looked like the first time around...

The former fabric was beautiful but just not quite the look I wanted for the bench.  I decided to take the entire thing apart. I removed the buttons (yep - I can use them somewhere else) and took out all the staples.  Look at the pile of staples!  Wow!

I had bought this fabric to use for throw pillows on the bed - isn't it a great fabric?  It has that ikat look about it.  It's exactly what I wanted for the bench, a little pop of color that pulls the blues out of the other parts of the room.  It was much easier to cover this time because I didn't tuft anything.  I just pulled the fabric tight and stapled it using my staple gun.

A little trick... it was really square on the corners so I used the gun to make a tuck with a staple to give it a little form.  I pushed it in with my finger (centered) and without stapling my finger, I stapled it right there - I think it makes it look more "custom" for lack of a better descriptive word.

This is a finial from an old curtain rod that I loved. I repurposed it as a knob for the bench drawer.

Now I'm happy!
I think it turned out great, even if it took a couple of tries to get it there!

Chicken Wire Nightstand

Lucy

Lucy... her name is Lucy because the other nightstand is named Ethel.
I'm so goofy - I know- no need to tell me!

I went shopping - in my garage - and found this nice little end table.
I bought it at a garage sale back in the summer.

It's so sweet with the chicken wire doors.  I decided to leave the inside and top unpainted. I used "Duck Egg" (Annie Sloan Chalk Paint) on the rest.

Don't you love the legs on her?

I distressed it and finished it with Miss Mustard Seed's Hemp Oil.

I bought these knobs at Hobby Lobby (my all time favorite place for hardware).

Let me just tell on myself - I spent an equal amount of time painting this piece of furniture and trying to get the doors back on.  I could not figure out the hinges and put them on WRONG 3 times before I finally handed the project over to my husband.  The doors are now working and perfect.  I think it will be a great addition to the guest room.

The lamp is from Hobby Lobby too... another great source for lamps!
